OUR CERAMIC CROWNS PERFECTLY MIMIC YOUR NATURAL TEETH WHILE PROVIDING LASTING STRUCTURAL SUPPORT

CERAMIC CROWNS

Ceramic crowns provide optimal strength and function to a tooth without detracting from the appearance of your smile.  Historically, dental crowns utilised metal frames which where visible and detracted from a natural looking smile.  Thankfully, improvements in material and technology mean that we can now handcraft purely ceramic crowns that mimic the look of a natural tooth while providing lasting structural support.

Handcrafting a ceramic crown requires a close collaboration between our dentist and our carefully chosen master ceramist and is a three stage process.

Ceramic Crowns

Stage 1 - The first stage of a fitting involves our dentist preparing the tooth for the crown including removing any decay, reshaping your tooth for the crown and taking an impression for the ceramist.  We then fit a temporary crown that is almost as good as the permanent crown so that you won't be left with an unnatural looking smile for any length of time.

Stage 2 - The second stage occurs after the patient has left our practice.  We take extra time to thoroughly communicate with our carefully chosen ceramists to ensure they completely understand the result we are after.

Stage 3 - The last stage is when you return to the practice (usually around a week later) to have your new crown fitted.  At this time we will take the time to ensure that you are completely happy with the look and feel of your new crown.  It will be tested for a proper fit and checked that it doesn't interfere with your bite.

Ceramic Crowns are utilised for many reasons including:

  • Protecting a tooth after root canal treatment
  • To preserve a weakened or broken tooth
  • To hold a dental bridge
  • To cover a misshapen or discoloured tooth.
  • To support a tooth with an exceptionally large filling
